Smart Start links services in the community aimed at helping children ages 0 to 5. This helps secure a network of organizations connected to the common goal of ensuring every child in North Carolina arrives at school healthy and ready to succeed.

Health Consultation:

48 Local Smart Start Partnerships fund Child Care Health Consultations Services in 59 counties.

Child Care Resource and Referrel (CCR&R):

67 local Smart Start partnerships fund CCR&R services in 89 counties.

5 local Smart Start partnerships serve as the lead CCR&R agency in the state CCR&R system. These 5 partnerships coordinate CCR&R services in 30 counties.

WAGE$:

44 partnerships funded WAGE$ which provided supplements to child care teachers/administrators in 59 counties

National Technical Assistance Center:

Smart Start's National Technical Assistance Center is available to assist communities and states in the development, implementation and integration of comprehensive community-based early childhood initiatives. The expertise provided by the Center is based upon eight years of experience and lessons learned in the development and implementation of the Smart Start Initiative.
