Planning and Oversight Committee
Roles:
- Provide strategic thinking and active leadership in policy development including recommending strategies for allocations.
- Monitor Smart Start’s programmatic and policy initiatives. Provide a forum for programmatic appeals of activities.
- Be a catalyst to identify new areas of program development for Smart Start.

Public Awareness & Development Committee
Roles:
- Provide oversight of Smart Start public awareness and education campaigns and the development of consistent, relevant, positive messages.
- Increase NCPC Board member capacity to engage a wide range of public venues and encourage local leaders to also promote Smart Start.
- Orient and engage all NCPC Board members, local partnership boards and other Smart Start advocates about the legislative agenda and expectations for leadership.

Audit and Finance Committee
Roles:
- Provide oversight and assurance of sound financial policies and practices.
- Monitor the fiduciary accountability of local partnerships.
- Be a catalyst for development of new strategies to improve Smart Start’s accountability systems.
